Place: Pre-race
Miles to Southampton: 430
From: Paul Cayard, Skipper, EF Language
It has been a fast but fun stopover for EF Language. Lots of
compliments on a job well done. We are now looking forward to a
great race to Southampton, which will in all likelihood decide
2nd-6th place overall.
The forecast is for a northeasterly 12-18 knots tonight, going to
the north and dropping in velocity for tomorrow. The big decision
of the race could well be when to tack onto port in the English
Channel tomorrow as the wind shifts and the current changes.
Sunday morning looks real light in the western Solent and with an
out-going current, anchoring 20 miles from the finish is a real
possibility. That would leave the fleet virtually all lined up
and what a stress for those trying to protect their positions
Swedish Match and Merit. I am very happy not to have the whole
race still on the line.
This will be exciting right from the start to the finish, so hang
on to your mouse, the start is just one hour away.
