Russ Silvestri
Trimmer
Russ Silvestri, 38, from San Francisco, is a trimmer. When he's not sailing, he assists in fundraising and coordination of AmericaOne Founders' Club activities. The only other America's Cup campaign he has worked on was the USA Golden Gate Challenge 12 years ago. He has been sailing since he was six.
A three-time Finn North American Champion, Silvestri was also national champion in the class in 1999 and a silver medalist in Finns at this year's Pan American Games. He is also mounting an Olympic campaign in the Finn Class for Sydney in 2000. Silvestri also sails Etchells and took a second in the world in 1984 and North American champion in 1990.
Nicknamed "Rust", Silvestri is a 1983 graduate of the University of Southern California with a BS in Business. His interests outside sailing are his family and the stock market. Silvestri is married to Beth and they have two children.
