During the interval leading up to the America's Cup competition itself, which will begin in late 1999, AmericaOne will begin assembling its sailing and support teams, headed by skipper Paul Cayard.
Tactician John Kostecki will also play a critical role. His job is to coordinate the crew activities, and to assemble racing teams for specific competitions. In addition, he will be a safety valve, for Cayard, as necessary filling in as skipper during some of the races preceding the America's Cup competition.
New team members have been named, including Josh Belsky, Curtis Blewett, Sean Clarkson and Terry Hutchinson. Belsky and Blewett were members of Cayard's winning EF Language team. Clarkson was a member of the Toshiba crew, and Hutchinson is widely recognized as one of the world's finest up and coming grand prix sailors and winner of the 1998 J-24 World Championships. Watch this space for full biographies of these world-class sailors soon.
In the coming year, Cayard, Kostecki and prospective team members will participate in a number of international regattas. See the Calendar of Events for details.
