Carter Perrin, 26, from Houston, TX, is a trimmer. He's known to his shipmates as "Cartier" or "Tex". In addition to his onboard duties, he works with the trimming team to organize sails for the day, and to digitize and analyze sail shapes.
A full-time sailor for the last three years, Perrin raced in the Champagne Mumm Admiral's Cup this summer with the winning Dutch Team. For the last four years he has been regular crew on the One Design 48 Abracadabra. In addition to his America's Cup work, Perrin is currently pursuing a bid for the 2000 Olympics in the Soling Class, and is also working towards competing in the Volvo Ocean Race 2001-2 Around the World. Since 1997 he's been bowman in the Soling for John Kostecki, and trained in Spain this spring with Kostecki in the illbruck Round the World Campaign for the Volvo Race.
Perrin's other interests include hunting, fishing, mountain biking, skiing/snowboarding, Longhorn football, cooking, photography, and flying. He is a graduate of the University of Texas.
