arah O'Kane, Housing Manager for AmericaOne has been a fixture
on the Grand Prix yachting circuit since she started her company, Shorebase, some
15 years ago. Shorebase provides complete off-the-water support to yachting teams
and campaigns.
O'Kane is an expert at organizing housing, chefs, food, vehicles, travel logistics
and team clothing. She has done business all over the world and her client list
reads like the Who's Who of international yachting campaigns. O'Kane comes well
recommended by many of the AmericaOne sailing team, who have benefited from
her management of accommodations and cooking at previous regattas.
O'Kane approached AmericaOne, as she wanted to add an America's Cup to her
resume. She started working for the syndicate in October, 1998, and was the
first working employee of AmericaOne in New Zealand where she embarked upon
a housing search.
During the January-February sailing session Sarah performed the additional
job role of New Zealand office manager, as well as food and housing manager.
Needless to say, she was incredibly busy and contributed greatly to the successful
training session in Auckland.
O'Kane enjoys high-performance trapeze dingy sailing, horseback riding, music
concerts and the theatre. When not traveling to regattas, she lives in a beautiful
old home on a hill above a beach in Wales, England.
