George F. Jewett, Jr.

Director, Chairman of the Board

George "Fritz" Jewett, Jr., is Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Potlatch Corporation and is a member of the Management Committee. He joined Potlatch Corporation in 1954 and moved into corporate administration in 1955. He was elected to the board in December 1977.

Prior to joining AmericaOne, Jewett was involved in numerous other America's Cup campaigns. He served as Chairman for the 1977 Enterprise Campaign, 1980 Freedom Campaign, and 1983 Liberty Campaign. He was Co-Chairman of the 1974 Intrepid Campaign, and involved with the 1986/87, 1988, 1992 and 1995 Stars & Stripes Campaigns.

Jewett is on the Nominating Committee of the America's Cup Hall of Fame, and he is an avid sailor and member of the St. Francis Yacht Club, New York Yacht Club, San Diego Yacht Club, Pacific-Union Club, Bohemian Club, Villa Taverna, and Spouting Rock Beach Association in Newport, R.I.

Currently, Jewett is serving as a trustee for California Pacific Medical Center Foundation, where he served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees from June 1991 to June 1992. He is also a member of the Council of both the National Gallery of Art (Trustees Council since 1984), and the Monterey Bay Aquarium (Leadership Council since 1994).

In the past, he served as a Trustee for The Asia Foundation (July 1967-90); California Academy of Sciences (October 1972-89); Asian Art Foundation of San Francisco (May 1969-87); Pacific Presbyterian Medical Center (1966-73, 1977-84); a Director (1984-1991) and Chairman of the Board (1987-June 1991) of the Pacific Presbyterian Medical Center Foundation; and a member of the Asian Art Commission (July 1969-March 1987).

Jewett received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Dartmouth College in 1950 and a Master of Business Administration degree from Harvard Business School in 1952. He resides in San Francisco with his wife, Lucy.
