Josh Belsky

Boat Captain / Pit

A t age 32, John Belsky, originally from Rye, New York, brings over 12 years of grand prix sailing experience to the AmericaOne Team. Most recently, Belsky sailed on board EF Language, the winning 1998 Whitbread Round the World Race boat with AmericaOne and EF Language skipper, Paul Cayard.

His involvement with the America’s Cup began in 1992 when he was a pitman on board Bill Koch’s America3. Belsky is best-known for being the only American to win both the 1998 Whitbread Round the World Race and the 1992 America’s Cup, sailing on board the winning boats during both races. Belsky’s involvement with the America’s Cup continued in 1995 when he worked as the pitman on Stars & Stripes.

Belsky received a BA in 1989 from St. Lawrence University; he currently calls Hood River, Oregon his home.

In additional to two America’s Cups, Belsky has participated in many other sailing competitions involving match racing, 50-foot class boats, and Maxi boats.
