The Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron plans to defend the Cup in February-March 2000. Every attempt will be made to house the syndicates at an America's Cup Centre to ensure maximum public involvement. Racing will take place on windward-leeward courses set in the natural arena off East Coast Bays, between Rangitoto Island and Whangaparaoa Peninsula.
