Titan, Kostecki Move Into First-Place Tie
FT. LAUDERDALE, Florida (Nov. 20, 1997) Tom Hill's Titan, with AmericaOne tactician John Kostecki in the afterguard, won today's second race in a photo finish over Nitemare to move into a first-place tie with the Chicago-based boat in the Corel 45 World Championship regatta.
Four races were sailed today in winds ranging from 12 to 18 knots. With finishes of 3-1-3-3 in today's races, Titan, from Puerto Rico, posted the top point score of the day.
In third place is Atalanti X from Athens, Greece, and in fourth is Indulgence, hailing from London, England, and being sailed by Russell Coutts.
Racing resumes Friday at 11:00 a.m. The regatta, hosted by Lauderdale Yacht Club, concludes on Saturday. Nine Corel 45s are racing for world championship honors. The event has drawn boats from England, France, Greece, Puerto Rico, Sweden, the United States, and Wales.
