Sailing Enthusiast Is Grand Prize Winner

And the winner is ... Jim Butchart, who owns and operates a specialty retail store in Santa Rosa, Calif., north of San Francisco. Butchart's name was selected at random by AmericaOne skipper Paul Cayard from the thousands of entrants in the AmericaOne Sweepstakes sponsored by Netscape Communications Corp.

"I was quite surprised. I'd forgotten all about it," Butchart says of the moment he received the phone call notifying him of his prize. "At first I thought somebody was trying to sell me something."

Instead of taking the grand prize of an all-expenses-paid Caribbean vacation aboard a sailing yacht, Butchart chose the cash equivalent of $11,000. He's undecided as to how he will use the money. "The reality hasn't hit home yet," he says.

Butchart is an active sailor, crewing on friends' boats in the Bay Area. Prior to moving to California, he raced a Hobie 16 and crewed on larger racing boats in the Seattle area.
