"The mission for AmericaOne is to win back the America's Cup with American technology and an American commitment to excellence in all levels of the program. Throughout all phases of our challenge we expect AmericaOne to be highly visible here in San Francisco and to demonstrate the finest example of the American competitive spirit," said Cayard.
Cayard announced that veteran America's Cup yacht designer, Bruce Nelson, will lead AmericaOne's design and technology team. John Kostecki, an Olympic silver medalist, has been named tactician. Board members will include: Paul Cayard, Skipper; Jim Clark, Chairman, Netscape Communications Corp.; Craig Fuller, Vice Chairman, Burson-Marsteller; John McCaw, Orca Bay Capital Corporation and Douglas Smith, Partner at Brobeck, Phleger and Harrison.

With the launch of AmericaOne, St. Francis Yacht Club, in its quest for the Cup, embarks on a long journey toward Auckland, New Zealand, and the start of America Cup XXX in the year 2000.
