SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- OCTOBER 5, 1998, -- In the spirit of Fleet Week, AmericaOne, the San Francisco based group, headed by 1998 Whitbread Round the World Race champion Paul Cayard, announced they will host six of the Navy’s Blue Angels once again aboard their 75 foot International America’s Cup Class boat, AmericaOne. On Tuesday, October 6, the Blue Angels, the world’s premier military precision flying team, will test their sailing expertise as they "fly" across San Francisco Bay as guests aboard AmericaOne.

AmericaOne is one of 16 challengers, including six U.S. teams, vying for the America’s Cup in Auckland, New Zealand in 2000. As the premier U.S. challenger leading the race for technology and sponsorship, AmericaOne recently added Ford Motor Company and Visteon to their list of corporate sponsors, which includes Hewlett-Packard and Bellcore/SAIC.

The Blue Angels as always, are the focal point of the Fleet Week celebration drawing thousands to their incredible precision aerobatics show. As engines roar overhead, impressively choreographed flights exhibit the squadron’s well trained flying skills – stopping all in their tracks to admire the Navy’s goodwill ambassadors.

AmericaOne is dedicated to recapturing the America’s Cup by applying U.S. technology in computer equipment, aerodynamics, hydrodynamics, sail design, naval architecture and structural engineering to America's Cup sailboat design. Technology partners include Hewlett-Packard, Bellcore/SAIC and Ford Motor Company and Visteon. Operating since June 1, 1996, the AmericaOne team is comprised of 36 professionals, including 20 members of the design team, actively working on the research and design of its sailboats. Operating since June 1, 1996, AmericaOne is the challenger on behalf of San Francisco’s St. Francis Yacht Club. To learn more about AmericaOne , visit the web site at www.ac2000.org
