Daily Report, January 30, 1999
By Morgan Larson
Another beautiful Auckland day; Wind, north east at 25-35 knots, cloudy skies with some light rain yet still shorts weather. Today all the America's Cup teams here training (Prada, America True, Team New Zealand and AmericaOne) stayed ashore as conditions were too much for our fragile boats.
Our day still began at 6am in the Auckland University Gym. We went through our routine stretching and then our VO2 Max workout lead by Paul Larkin and Mark Keenan. By 8:30, we arrived at the AmericaOne compound (most with Starbucks in hand).
Today was a day of onshore catch up including: meetings, work on our "Opera House", sanding, painting, welding, winch maintenance, sail repair and re-cut, tender tune-up, electronics maintenance, rigging..... Somewhere in there we snuck in another fine lunch prepared by Keri and Shawn (they really have taken great care of us). The day ended early and we were off work by 6:30.
Tomorrow is forecasted by "Clouds" our weather guru to be another windy day but we are planning another match race training exercise in the Farr MRX's. The shore team will keep working on OneAustralia so she is ready for us to put in another week of work on the Hauraki Gulf.
Have a great weekend, Morgan Larson
