AmericaOne New Zealand Chronicles:
Secret Rulers

Daily Report - Friday, December 10, 1999 -

Auckland, NZ

Ok, Ok, yes we won our race today against Pact 2000 (Young America). Now that we have that out of the way, I guess I can talk about the actual race, or for that matter the racing for the last several days. The winds have been treacherous - shifty, full of holes and often times at complete odds with our weather genius' predictions. The fellow that gets to sort it all out and distill, all kinds of well meaning and sometimes bewildering, information is John Kostecki (J.K.).

J.K., our esteemed tactician, has had a hard road to hoe the last few days. The Hauraki Gulf has been less than cooperative, yet he was able to guide us through all the various holes, to the catspaws and favorable shifts, that ultimately lead to our victories. Although nerve wracking at times J.K. pulled us through and made all the right choices to get us to the finish line first. The nerve center (the grinders) were all impressed, and I can tell you that we are the secret rulers of this whole AmericaOne campaign, so our opinion is important! Ask any grinder.

We are rather comfortable with where we are in the standings, I think the team as a whole is looking forward to the Semi-Finals and hurdles we need to surmount in those up coming rounds. We have a new weapon we are honing for battle and we are all looking forward to the next round and ultimately the Americas Cup.
