AmericaOne New Zealand Chronicles:
Mileage, lots of mileage

Daily Report - Friday, November 26, 1999 -

Auckland, NZ

Mileage, lots of mileage. Today 49 and 61 marked up the Hauraki Gulf with green trails as we had a great day 2 boat testing. The conditions were great -- 18-22 knot breezes, good size waves, and beautiful sunshine provided a perfect setting to evaluate our two IACC race boats.

We felt today was definitely one of our most productive days of testing in NZ to date. We are becoming ever more comfortable with our new boat USA 61. Both our design team and boat building team did a great job in California and have provided an extremely solid boat. Today with maximum shock loads on the structures with the large waves, the boat felt extremely solid. Needless to say, we are very pleased with what we are able to accomplish having both boats sailing together during this time between rounds.

The weather might not always be as nice as it was today, but we will continue to evaluate our boats and make improvements leading up to Round Robin 3. Have a Happy Thanksgiving and eat lots of turkey and stuffing for all of us here in Auckland.

Thanks for your interest.
