Greetings Friends and Supporters of AmericaOne,
America's Cup boats to the left and America's Cup boats to the right ... I must say that the City of Sails has done a really good job of getting ready for America's Cup 2000. Halsey Street, the main drag for all the Cup teams is a-bustle with activity. Every morning the teams flow in to their respective compounds to prepare for the day's work. Down at our end of the block we have Prada to our left, the Swiss and Young America immediately to our right. Further down the block are the French, Team New Zealand, Japanese, Spanish, Aloha Racing, Team Dennis Conner, and America True. It is impressive! It also piques the curiosity as each morning we drive by the compounds hoping to get a glimpse of something that we have not seen the previous morning. As usual though we really don't see much. Dennis has his keel exposed as do the French, while the rest of us wrestle with the skirts each day to preserve the secrecy that we have spent the past three years developing.
With 14 days to go to the start of Round Robin 1, AmericaOne is getting organized. We have been two-boat testing and getting USA 49 ready for battle. While we had a lot of time in Long Beach preparing, these days have been really good for the team.
That's all for now. Keep checking americaone.org for our progress.
