AmericaOne Nautica 2000 Star Class World Championship:
We Found a Lane Up The Middle

Daily Report - May 16, 2000-

Annapolis, MD
Well we did it. We didn't have a great start, but we found a lane up the middle of the course and with the winds light on both edges (of the race course) we popped out 2nd at the top mark. We never looked back and gained on all but one leg to win by nearly three minutes. The conditions were light and shifty, but we had good speed and did a nice job of picking the breeze. Gunsmoke.

This leaves us 2nd overall behind Mark Reynolds after two races. The forecast is for another light day tomorrow and moderate breeze later in the week. We are pretty happy to have two good scores to count because in these conditions the fleet is very even and it is difficult to be consistent.

The story on the qualifying countries is interesting. The first four countries (NZL, NED, IRL,BER) look good at this stage but it is wide open with mixed results back in the pack.

Regards,

Jamie and Gavin
