AmericaOne New Zealand Chronicles:
We Are Up For the Task

Daily Report - February 5, 2000-

Auckland, NZ

Today was one of those days that you wanted the race to have seven legs instead of six. AmericaOne sailed a great match and was about to strike and make its final kill but with a penalty turn to do and the final run coming to an end, time ran out. To win four races against Prada was not going to be easy and today was their turn to win. Tomorrow is ours and we are ready for battle.

The team is charged and up for the challenge, morning can't come soon enough. To the fans supporting the team out on the spectator boat, at the base, over the Internet and via TV, we ask you to leave your green torchlights burning, wear your shards and tune in for the show. Tomorrow will be the 203rd race of the Louis Vuitton Cup and by all accounts it should be one of the most exciting races ever. We are told that there is an entirely new group of fans following our progress and that means we've achieved another one of our goals make sailing exciting, growing awareness of the sport and seeing more people addicted to sailboat racing thus making our sport more marketable.

As a member of the AmericaOne Team, I can tell you that we are proud to be America's hope to bring home the Cup, we are up for the task.
