AmericaOne New Zealand Chronicles:
3 Senarios

Daily Report - January 11, 2000-

Auckland, NZ

AmericaOne passed a huge milestone today. With today's victory over Nippon, we have secured a mathematical lock on first place in the Louis Vuitton Semi-Finals and unequivocally qualified for the Louis Vuitton Finals. Tomorrow we race our tenth and final race against Stars & Stripes. Lots of attention will be paid to the racing tomorrow as Stripes and Prada are separated by only one point. Prada races Nippon tomorrow.

Scenario # 1 - Prada and Stripes both win. The focus will change to Thursday, when Stripes makes up its postponed match against True(originally scheduled on Race Day # 4, but delayed due to repair time granted to Stripes by the Jury for damage caused by a rear-ender from the French). This means that Prada, having completed all her races, will sit helpless on the dock and watch to see if Stripes can pick up the all important point to tie them. This would throw the battle for the second boat to go through the Finals into a sudden-death tiebreaker. Prada and Stripes would have to go at it during the following days in a yet-to-be-officially confirmed format (but probably just one race).

Scenario # 2 - Prada wins, Stripes loses. Prada ends the series uncontested in second place with seven points and Stripes stays at five and even a win over True on Thurs. cannot catch them up.

Scenario # 3 - Prada loses, Stripes wins. At the very least, Stripes ties and goes to a tiebreaker, however, if they beat True the following day, Stripes gets the uncontested second and goes through to the Finals.

It'll be an exciting and important day of racing tomorrow. Stay tuned.
