In 1995, New Zealand defeated Dennis Conner and the San
Diego Yacht Club to win the America's Cup, becoming only the second foreign challenger
to accomplish this task. In the fall of 1999 and early 2000, one of 15 currently
eligible challengers will vie for the right to "challenge" New Zealand in the
"Louis Vuitton Cup" challenger series. In the spring of 2000, the winning syndicate
will earn the right to race Team New Zealand in the 30th America's Cup. For more
