Comments: Although Great Britain has participated in the America's Cup since its inception, this is the first challenge issued by the Royal Dorset YC, and the first British challenge since 1986-87. Chris Law was named interim skipper for the mini-America's Cup regatta in April, 1997, replacing Lawrie Smith, who became involved with the Whitbread Round the World Race.
