Comments: Challenger of Record New York YC, as the originator of the event, has the longest America's Cup history of any club, and successfully defended the Cup 24 times before losing to Australia's Royal Perth YC in 1983. The PACT2000 racing syndicate is the out-growth of PACT 95, which built the 1995 defender, Young America. The group has a veteran America's Cup campaigner in John Marshall and a world-class skipper in Ed Baird. Bruce Farr is one of the world's most accomplished sailboat designers, but has yet to design an America's Cup winner.
