Comments: This is the third challenge from this group of organizers. The Japanese, though relative newcomers to the game, have always mounted competitive challenges, and will no doubt do so again. They are proven masters at emulation, funding has not been a serious problem, and they are learning the subtleties of the America's Cup. Australian Peter Gilmour, a veteran America's Cup helmsman and head coach of the 1995 team, is sailing director and skipper.
