Comments: Société Grau-du-Roi-Port Camargue merged with the Yacht Club de Cannes challenge. This is the first challenge from either club, but just the latest in a series of French challenges that began with Baron Bich in 1970. Historically, the French have never advanced beyond the semi-final round of the challenger trials. Whether this effort can improve on that record remains to be seen. Even without Marc Pajot, France has a deep pool of experienced talent to draw from, including Thierry Pepponet and Marc Bouët.
